Granny’s Pumpkin Pie Bars

Over Thanksgiving, one podmate took advantage of a full sized kitchen, and made her great-grandmother’s pumpkin bar recipe. They are quite delicious, and put a new twist on a traditional holiday favorite!

Materials:
1 box yellow cake mix
¾ cup oleo/margarine
3 eggs
1 lg. can pumpkin
2 ½ tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/2 c. brown sugar (packed)
2/3 c. milk
1/4 c. white sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Procedure:
Bottom
1 pkg. yellow cake mix
1/2 c. oleo(margarine) melted
1 egg
Reserve 1c. of dry cake mix for topping.  Combine rest of ingredients and press in 9 x 13" pan.

Filling
3 c. Canned pumpkin(1 large can)
2 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1/2 c. brown sugar (packed)
2 eggs
2/3 c. milk
Combine ingredients and stir until smooth, then poor over bottom layer.

Topping
1 c. cake mix
1/4 c. white sugar
1/4 c. oleo (margarine)-NOT MELTED
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Sprinkle over mixture in pan.  

Bake 350 degrees, 40-50 minutes.  Until knife comes out clean. Cut in squares, top with whipped cream.

Christmas White Trash

First off, this name is catchy, but if it offends you, we’re sorry! This recipe was found on pinterest, and is very yummy! Yup…we’re taking on food now-hold on!!

Materials:
24 oz. vanilla flavored candy coating (almond bark)
6 cups Kellogg's Crispix cereal
3 cups Christmas shaped pretzels (or whatever kind you want)
16 oz. M&M'S (whatever kind you want-we used mint, peanut butter, and plain)


Procedure:
1.      Melt almond bark according to package

2.      Pour cereal, pretzels and m&ms in a bowl (the bigger, the better)

3.      When almond bark is melted, pour into bowl.

4.      Mix with a wooden spoon, and maybe even pour onto wax paper to try and evenly coat everything.

5.      Attempt to not eat it all!

Light Bulbs Turned Penguins!

Who doesn't love a little penguin? The girls of pod 1-1-2 sure do! Ornaments were made to help celebrate this holiday season. Enjoy!


Materials:
Light bulbs (can be recycled, or new; any wattage)
White spray paint
Black paint
Sharpies (blue & orange)
Pipe Cleaners
Hot glue gun

Procedure:
1.      Spray the bulbs white. Make sure to spray in a well ventilated place.

2.      After dry, paint black around bottom and back of bulb (when holding upside down)

3.      Add a pair of eyes and a beak with your sharpies.

4.      Using hot glue gun, wrap pipe cleaner around metal part of bulb and also for loop.

5.      Attach to your tree, give as a gift, or even name your cute little critter!
